One Last Project for Kenya

Updated: Jul 14, 2021

I have invested more than fifteen years of my life in the Deaf children of the Immanuel Christian School for the Deaf in Ringa, Kenya. With God's help we were able to help the school purchase land, and finance the construction of a beautiful campus in which the children could have a safe and wholesome place to live and learn. It is amazing . . . no . . . it is nothing less than supernatural to see what has been accomplished in such a few short years. Beautiful dormitories, all-purpose building, and a state of the art administration/academic facility are just part of the story.

Apparently, I have one more thing to do. Recently, I made the difficult decision to close down operations of the KENYA DEVELOPMENT FUND, the US based charity I set up to facilitate our work on behalf of these beautiful, but very marginalized Deaf children. I felt that we have achieved what we set out to do--even exceeded all of our expectations. Because of personal health issues with my wife and myself and extremely difficult travel restrictions, I felt it best to cease operations. I had put the process into motion. . . notifying all of our regular donors and closing down our website. I have only one thing left I need to do. I need to close out our checking account and our PayPal account where we receive most of our donations. My target date was August 1, 2021 - just a few days from now. BUT THEN . . . received very exciting news and an urgent request.

ONE THING WAS LEFT UNDONE. One important project I had wanted to accomplish was the installation of a solar power system that would enable the school to function during the regular power outages Kenya endures - and to reduce expenses for electrical services. We had met road block after road block and it seemed that it might not happen.

Yesterday, I received an email from Wesley Agengo, the headmaster at the school informing me that he has a quote for the installation of a brand new solar power system for just $4,000!

$4,000 IS AN AMAZING PRICE FOR A

COMPLETE SOLAR POWER SYSTEM.

I asked Wesley how effective this system would be at such a low cost. Here is his reply:

"The system will power both dormitories, the Dining Hall, All the security lights, and light all of the classrooms." (there are 10 classrooms).

With all of my heart, I want to see this solar power system in place!

The checking account has not yet been closed and our PayPal (credit cards too) account is still active. I am going to keep them active for a while longer, as we try to raise the funds to install this important addition to the campus.

CAN YOU HELP? I believe this one final project before closing the books will be honoring to God and I know it will be a great blessing to the school. You can help us by clicking the DONATE NOW button here to give by PayPal or Credit Card (you are not required to have a PayPal account to give my credit card.

UPDATE FOR THIS POST: ALL FUNDS FOR THIS PROJECT HAVE BEEN RECEIVED - THE SOLAR ENERGY PROJECT IS FULLY FUNDED! THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROUS SUPPORT!
